Madison River Communications today announced the following organizational changes to support the accelerated growth plans of the Integrated Communications Division.

Craig Stapel, currently Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, will assume the position of Executive Vice President of the Integrated Communications Division. In this new capacity, Stapel will be responsible for all sales, customer care, installation, field operations, and marketing functions of the Integrated Communications Division. Stapel will report to Bruce J. Becker, President and Chief Operating Officer of ICD.

Stapel named the following General Managers for the markets served by the Integrated Communications Division. Mike Sutphin becomes General Manager/Dallas Market; Mike Burkeen becomes General Manager/Mid-Atlantic Markets including North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama; John Wiskirchen becomes General Manager/Mid-West Markets; and Bob Ungaro becomes General Manager/Major Accounts responsible for Fortune 1000 accounts nationwide. Stapel will name General Managers for the Houston and Atlanta markets at a later date.

Stapel also announced the following changes in the marketing organization. Rob Marquart, currently Director of Data Marketing, is promoted to the position of Vice President of Marketing and will report to Craig Stapel. Carolyn Hill, Director of Branch Operations, and Sammy Roberson, Director of Product Development, will report to Marquart. Kevin Hancock, Marketing Director-Promotion and Placement will now report to Bruce Becker.

I am excited about the opportunity to have total ownership of our customers in the field," stated Craig Stapel, newly appointed Executive Vice President of the Integrated Communications Division.

Lee Whitney, currently Director of Network Operations, will become the Vice President of Engineering and Operations/Western Region for ICD. Also, J. T. Whitehead, currently Director of Network Implementation, will assume the position of Vice President of Engineering and Operations/Eastern Region for ICD.

Additionally, Kirt Perkins, currently Manager of Information Systems, is promoted to Director of ATM Platform Planning and Deployment. John DiGann is promoted to Director of Engineering and Operations, responsible for engineering build-out and network operations readiness and performance. Peter Neber is promoted to Director of Engineering and Operations, responsible for Provisioning. Perkins, DiGann, and Neber will report to Lee Whitney. Kelly Ray, Senior Manager of Digital Switch Translations will also report to Whitney.

Caren Silverberg has joined Madison River as Director of Customer Care for the Integrated Communications Division. Silverberg will report to Bruce Becker.
