MEBANE, NC -- Madison River Communications, an established and rapidly growing Integrated Communications Provider, is pleased to announce the completion and opening of our Network Support Center in Plano, Texas to support its 195,000 access lines and over 2200 route miles of fiber optic cable. On June 10, 2000, the Plano Network Support Center assumed network surveillance and customer service responsibilities for all Madison River Communications.

Located in the heart of the telecommunications/technology corridor in Plano, the 13,000 + square foot facility will soon support over 100 employees in multiple technical disciplines. The NSC serves as the technological "nerve center" of the Madison River operations and service support organization. The center allows for 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week, monitoring of Madison River's advanced fiber optic platform, ATM backbone transport platform, Internet and enterprise data network elements, and product and service delivery components all the way to the customer site.

The NSC will monitor both Madison River's Incumbent Local and Competitive Local Exchange Carrier business divisions. The center monitors all fiber transport, customer premise ATM edge devices, and controls all field activities which have the potential to impact customers 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Additionally, the center undertakes applications engineering to fit individual and specific customer requirements.

Jack Sanders, Senior Vice President-Operations of Madison River Communications-Integrated Communications Division, and Lee Whitney, Director Network Operations of Madison River Communications are responsible for management of the NSC.

Sanders has more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications, including serving as Chief Technical Officer for Nextlink One Communication. Among his earlier management and executive positions, he was Vice President of Operations for U.S. On Line Communications and Vice President West Region and Business Development for MFS Realcom. In addition, he served as Regional Vice President and Vice President Operations for Centel Business Systems, which later became Wiltel Communications Systems.

Whitney has over 20 years of telecommunications experience. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Whitney was the Director of Network Operations for Citizens Communications where he was responsible for their nationwide ILEC, Long Distance, and SS7 networks. Preceding his service with Citizens Communications, he held a number of significant roles in network operations and customer service with Centel Corporation and Sprint. During his service with Centel and Sprint, he was responsible for developing several new Operations Centers, including the Sprint Midwest Repair Center serving over 850,000 access lines. Mr. Whitney received a bachelor's degree from Bluefield State College.

The significant technical and management depth of all of the employees of the NSC and the advanced Network Management System platform, compatible with a broad range of network products provides Madison River customers with a high-level of confidence in the reliability of their communications network. The Network Support Center provides Madison River Communications' customers with full coverage 365 days a year across all time zones, all functions, and all products.

Madison River provides integrated communications solutions to the areas it serves as both an incumbent provider and an integrated communications provider of voice and data communications, including local, high speed Internet access, enhanced data, DSL, long distance, 800 services, and custom calling features.
